This is a dynamic role, working within our early childhood education centre.

We're looking for a Nest Maker—the heart of the home—who brings comfort and care through everyday routines.
This role involves preparing nourishing meals, keeping the kitchen tidy, and staying on top of laundry to ensure a smooth and harmonious environment.

To provide a nutritious balanced diet throughout the day, for each child attending the centre (including catering to different dietary requirements).
To prepare food and maintain the kitchen, ensuring a high standard of food safety practices, and strict time management.
To provide parents / whanau and children the opportunity to be informed and involved in all decisions concerning the children's nutrition.
Build and maintain positive, warm, and responsive relationships with the team, tamariki and whanau
Understand and meet all required regulations (food safety, Ministry of Education food requirements, council registered kitchen requirements) and abide by Salvation Army policies and procedures.
laundry is maintained with support from staff and as per procedures to support the rhythm of the centre through thoughtful attention to detail and consistency.
Dining room is cleaned (swept & or mopped) after lunch.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen space.
Our ideal candidate will :
Have experience cooking in a fast paced environment
Be comfortable, confident and safe working with children - a full Children's Worker safety check will be required for this role, including a police vet
Have excellent time management skills, to prioritize multiple tasks and meet timing needs of tamariki
Ability to work well within a team
Certificate in food handling is preferred, but can provide training for the right applicant.
