Select Committee Services supports select committees with the administrative, procedural, and reporting back aspects of their work.
About the role
As Clerk of Committee, you\'ll play a lead role in overseeing services to one or more designated select committees. As well as attending all meetings and coordinating the committee\'s programme of work, you\'ll work closely with Members of Parliament, providing advice on matters to do with committee procedure, scrutiny of legislation and scrutiny of State Sector agencies.
This is a full time, fixed term role until June 2026.

What you will bring to the role
You\'ll be building a strong professional relationship with the Chairperson of your committee, so you need to be tactful, diplomatic, and confident working with senior public figures. You\'ll also need the skills to work with different personalities, and be able to think on your feet, cope with pressure, and deal effectively with the unexpected.
Alongside a tertiary qualification, you\'ll be confident in leading a small team and advising decision makers and stakeholders. Ensuring correct procedures are followed is a critical part of this role so you\'ll need to be someone who appreciates the need for rules and processes. But this role isn\'t just about following a set of rules - you\'ll also need sound judgement and decision-making skills for situations when the way forward isn\'t clear-cut.

The appointing base salary for this role is $103,020 to $113,220 per annum. Appointments will be based on skills, experience and relativity (remuneration band extends beyond the appointing salary range to account for tenure progression).
