  • This role is based in the Dunedin District Court, reporting to a Service Manager. The District Court Scheduler will ensure that the Ministry maintains a strong focus on prioritising and scheduling cases across the District Court jurisdictions. You will be responsible for scheduling court hearings across multiple courts within a JSA. This is an exciting opportunity offering engagement with great people across multiple courts!The position will work closely with Regional Scheduling Advisors to maintain court schedules and ensure the smooth daily operation of scheduling within the Dunedin courts.Relationship management skills, being adaptable and having the ability to multi-task are key factors to succeed in this opportunity.This position will also work closely with Court Registry Officers, Managers, judicial officers, external stakeholders. This collaboration will ensure national scheduling priorities are followed, the efficient prioritisation of cases and available hearing time is effectively utilised. This role directly contributes to efficient case flow management and improved court performance.The District Court Scheduler will be responsible for the following :
  • Ensuring a consistent approach to scheduling of cases.
  • Supporting Ministry of Justice focus areas, specifically by prioritising and scheduling cases / hearings across a JSA.
  • Ensuring that the appropriate type and volume of work is scheduled.
  • Utilising courtroom and allocation of judicial resources efficiently.
  • Promoting consistent scheduling practices and use of technology.
  • Maintaining knowledge of facilities and scheduling issues for each court.
  • Working collaboratively with judicial officers, registry staff and stakeholders across multiple courts.

  • What we are looking for :
  • Experience working in a scheduling or logistical operations position with competing priorities.
  • Experience and ease with the use of technology to support rostering and scheduling work across multiple functions and locations.
  • Excellent relationship skills and a strong service-oriented ethic.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Attention to detail.

  • The appointing salary for this role will be between $66,066 and $90,008 based on skills and experience.
