We're seeking an experienced logistics professional and leader to join our team as Group Logistics Manager.
This critical role sits within WREMO's Operational Readiness and Response team and reports to the Team Leader, Regional Incident Management Team.This is a permanent, full-time position based at our Thorndon office in Wellington.About the role : As the Group Logistics Manager in the newly established Regional Incident Management Team (RIMT), you'll lead the development and coordination of logistics capability and capacity across the region.
You'll provide expert advice and thought leadership on logistics planning, procurement, and supply chain arrangements, ensuring the region is ready to deliver essential goods and services during emergencies.In readiness, you'll design and implement improvements to logistics systems, processes, and frameworks that strengthen the region's operational resilience.
In response, you'll lead the Logistics function in the Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC) or support local Emergency Operations Centres (EOCs) to ensure the effective delivery of resources and logistics operations.Skills and experience required : Strong technical knowledge and leadership experience in logistics, procurement, or supply chain management in an emergency setting.Proven ability to design and deliver effective logistics frameworks, systems, and plans.Experience working in or alongside emergency management, defence, or critical infrastructure sectors.Proven ability to motivate, develop, and support high-performing teams.Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and coordination skills in high-stakes situations.Ability to assess regional logistics capacity, identify gaps, and develop strategies to strengthen readiness.Strong project management and planning skills with an ability to turn strategy into practical, workable processes.Willingness to be part of an on-call roster and respond to emergencies when required.Understanding of local government and the emergency management system.Demonstrated commercial and financial acumen with experience managing supply chain relationships.Understanding of, or willingness to develop, capability in te reo Maori and te ao Maori, in line with Greater Wellington's Maori Capability Framework.What we offer : Work to suit your life and whanau with our flexible working policy.We'll encourage you to grow and prosper with a range of learning and development opportunities, internal secondments and career progression.Your wellbeing is our priority - we'll provide medical and trauma insurance support through our employee assistance programme, including Rongoa Maori partner providers, generous annual and sick leave, along with Tangihanga leave and support.We want you to have a sense of belonging, where you can reflect your personal and cultural identity in the way that you work.Social clubs, staff networks and a friendly and inclusive culture.Greater Wellington and WREMO are proud members of Diversity Works.
