Aeropath is a businessunit within AIL and offers a unique and wide range of services in aeronauticalinformation management (AIM) and the design of instrument flight procedures(IFP).

The data found inairliners and control towers around the world is only possible thanks to thework of AIM teams globally.
Their efforts ensure the accuracy, reliability, andaccessibility of aeronautical information that underpins aviation safety.
Reflecting the complexand ever evolving digital nature of aeronautical information, we are about toembark on a large, multi-year modernisation programme.
This includesdigitisation of data and business workflows and will require significantsoftware development.
About the Team :
The AIM team arehigh-performing and continuously improving, responsible for AIM services –producing and publishing the data, charts and information that make it possiblefor aircraft to fly around the country.
Aeropath uses the latest technology to developand maintain aeronautical data sets, web-based geospatial applications, andoperational publications.
The work has a direct impact on the entire aviationsystem of New Zealand.
The AIM team collatesdata from a wide range of sources, including Airways, the Civil AviationAuthority (CAA), MetService,airports, and other stakeholders.
The Aeronautical data collected, transformed and managed by the AIM team is used toproduce aeronautical publications, charts and is presented in a variety of products.Additionally, the data is utilised by global Flight Management System (FMS)providers Electronic Flight Bag providers.
The AIM team uses GeographicInformation Systems (GIS) to support data integration and visualisation.
The team maintainsaeronautical databases, which feed critical Air Traffic Management (ATM)systems and support the operation of the NOTAM office.
In addition, the teamdevelops and maintains aviation briefing websites PreFlight and Flight Advisor,that graphically integrates aeronautical, met, NOTAM and RPAS (drone) data toprovide aviation participants with the tactically relevant information theyrequire before they fly.
About the AIM Team Structure :
To deliver themodernisation programme and increase the capability within the AIM team, we areembarking on a recruitment drive.
With this in mind, we have created three teamleader roles, each leading a new sub-team of AIM Specialists within Data / Geospatial,Digital / Software and Publication specialist areas.
These newly roles willreport to the Manager AIM.
A core aspect of theseroles is focused on building on the data integration and visualisationcapabilities of the Aeropath data platform and data-centric AIM processes thatdrive the provision of the Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) in NewZealand and across the South Pacific.
This is critical to support our vision aswe continue to develop and implement new commercial products and services builton the provision of geospatial and aeronautical data.
It is important toemphasise that, to deliver business outcomes and modernisation programme, andas there is a significant overlap between functional areas, multiple orcross-functional skillset and collaborative mindset is highly desirable.
Data :
Comprised of static, dynamic and GIS data.
Static data management includes information originatorand survey data coordination, data management in SDO system and database, and supportingAIP Technical Editor functions.
Dynamic data management includes data linked toNotices to Airmen / Air Missions (NOTAMS) used by pilots and flight personnel.GIS includes spatial data visualisation, charting, and web-mapping.
Publishing :
AeronauticalInformation Publishing (AIP) includes aeronautical technical editing andcharting functions, with management of AIRAC change and publishing cycles.
Desktoppublishing includes document creation and management, customised flight guides,eAIP (AIP.NET) content management, printshop liaison and publication assurance.
Digital :
Digital AIM servicesinclude the development, support and delivery of emerging digital AIM productsand services, including provision of data sets via API, web-accessible systemsand services, and bespoke digital AIM products.
This will be achieved incollaboration with other areas of AIL and wider Airways, so knowledge and experiencein software delivery methodologies and frameworks in complex environments isrequired.
About the Roles :
We have three newlycreated Team Leader Aeronautical Information Design (AIM) roles available on afull-time permanent bases, based in the AON Centre in central Wellington.
As Team Leader AIM you'll have three to five direct reports, taking ownership for leading the teamof AIM Specialists within your specialist area.
Additionally, this includes theprovision of AIM services, including the supervision of workstreams and AIMprojects required to ensure a high quality, high output service in compliancewith large commercial contracts and applicable standards.
Key tasks include :
Leading a technical team of AIM specialists,ensuring effective prioritisation and tasking, including technical oversight,coordination, workflow, and standards for the AIM Team.
Effective prioritisation andcoordination of AIM team resources with other team leaders and the Manager AIM.
Complying with our Part 175 AIP Serviceexposition requirements, including compliance with Part 100 SMS.
Effective coordination with AIMspecialists and procedure design (PD) teams to ensure a seamless service,whilst ensuring data is available through our data platform and all hard-copyproduct orders are dispatched on time through our retail team or distributionagent.
Provide for the needs of AILand its customers in a growing and dynamic global environment, applying acustomer-centric lens and embedding sustainable practices.
Use own understanding of aeronauticalinformation management, geospatial data sets, software and modern webtechnologies and languages to help the business innovate with improvedprocesses, products and service delivery.

About You :
Dueto the nature of the role and the complexity of our operations,you'll hold extensive knowledge of aviation and / or specifically the Aeronautical Information domain, with proven success as a natural leader withexceptional communication, collaboration and influencing skills.
Additionally, you'll hold :
5 years' experience gainedworking in an Aeronautical Information Management field.
Experience in a leadership roleincluding sourcing and motivating talent to create effective team outcomes.
Experience with any of thefollowing :
Appropriate tertiary orindustry-specific qualifications.
Alternatively, evidence of relevantequivalent knowledge in aviation.
Demonstrated ability toundertake technical research and preparation of quality reports.
Sound knowledge ofinternational and New Zealand standards, including the ICAO AIM roadmap, andknowledge of New Zealand aviation regulations.
Thorough understanding ofAviation Safety Management Processes and Human Factors.
An understanding of currentdata management and software trends and systems particularly in relation togeospatial and / or aeronautical information.
The ability to work in adynamic team and business environment, collaborate with people, show resilienceand agility, take ownership, and focus on delivering successful outcomes.
Beneficial :
Experience or exposure with developing and delivering major digital workprograms to time, cost, and quality requirements.
