The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a visionary and strategic leader to head the Activity and Planning Team within the Wellington Transport Alliance (WTA).
As a key member of our high performing Alliance Leadership Team, you have a rare opportunity to contribute at the highest level, leading our asset management function, influencing long-term strategic direction, and aligning investment decisions with NZTA's objectives to deliver value-for-money outcomes.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Leading the Activity and Planning Team with transparency and independence, while championing NZTA's Asset Management policy principles across the wider Alliance team to ensure alignment with national objectives.
Owning the development and implementation of key asset management plans, including Strategic Asset Management, Design Management, and Level of Service plans, ensuring they are embedded into delivery approaches and aligned with ISO 55001 standards.
Driving a risk-based approach to planning and delivery, and implement robust systems to track asset performance, inform lifecycle decisions, and measure progress against Alliance KRAs and KPIs.
Ensuring timely and accurate reporting to ALT and Alliance Board on Alliance performance. Provide expertise into the development of relevant Alliance Management plans (such as the Sustainability Management Plan) as appropriate.

About you
To be successful in this role you will ideally have / be :
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (preferred)
Proven ability to lead within complex organisational structures, with extensive leadership experience and a strong grasp of achieving value for money outcomes.
Deep knowledge of ISO 55001 and long-term road maintenance planning, with a focus on maximising value across transport networks.
Skilled in alliance and / or collaborative contract models, stakeholder engagement, and driving innovative, high-impact programmes
Proficient in risk-based planning, performance evaluation, and change management, with a track record of early problem intervention and continuous improvement.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with a commitment to developing high-performing teams and fostering a positive, outcomes-focused culture.
