Senior Legal Counsel

This vacancy is in an organisation within the public sector, and would provide the successful lawyer the opportunity to work across a broad range of commercial law areas with a strong team of in-house lawyers.

This position can be based in Wellington or Auckland with genuine flexibility on offer.

The commercial work is broad in nature and includes but is not limited to :

ICT contracts

Health Contracts

Procurement contracts

Legal strategy

The successful person will be working as part of a collaborative, inclusive and well-supported team who are passionate about their industry and enjoy working within the public sector.

Minimum Requirements :

Admitted Lawyer in NZ with at least 7 years PQE, however all candidates will be considered on merit

Experience acquired in private practice or in-house in the commercial, corporate or transactional space

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with stakeholders in all areas of the business

A general understanding or a willingness to learn Te Reo Maori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and incorporating this into everyday work

Ability to coach and mentor junior lawyers and other team members

Consistently showing initiative and self-drive to achieve results
