INTRODUCTION

It is a great time to be part of the staff team at the National Support Centre of the Baptist Union of New Zealand.

Our Regional Associations are being revitalised, we have developed a robust Lead Team, and we are working to establish greater partnership with tangata whenua.

Our new and emerging leaders are increasingly influencing the shaping our future, and we are positioning our assets for the purpose of ministry and mission.

We look expectantly to how God will use our collective of faith communities to bring Gospel renewal to people and places in Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.

The Baptist Union archive that has previously been managed by Carey Baptist Theological College – is now coming directly under the management of the Baptist Union.

We are looking to employ an Archivist with initiative, energy, maturity, and a broad experience to undertake the role of transition the archive records to a new system, manage archive tasks, and develop, update and maintain archiving policy within the Baptist Union.

There will also be an interface with users of the archive to access material within the archive.

The primary users will be Carey students, but we expect with greater visibility of the archive across the movement that there may be a wider interest I, and desire to access the taonga we have in our collection.

WHO WE ARE

We are a collective of faith communities bringing gospel renewal to people and places in our local neighbourhoods.

We currently have 240 ethnically diverse member churches, fellowships, and missional communities in Aotearoa NZ.

We have about 400 pastors, chaplains, and workers.

We believe that Baptist ministry and mission is best done locally.

Our faith communities determine forthemselves the best way to fulfil their mission within their unique communities.

This has resulted in a movement that oversees a significant number of ministries and social initiatives throughout our countryand beyond.

These include a wide range of programmes that impact the lives of every age, ethnicity, andsocial grouping in New Zealand – our diversity is our strength!

We believe a healthy faith community will be marked out by four things—robust leadership, growing disciples, healthy resources, and effective mission.

When our individual Baptist faith communities arehealthy then our movement will be healthy.

Our collective ministry and mission response is through our240 individual faith communities serving their local communities the best that they can!

This role plays a major part in seeing these things achieved.

We endeavour to support our local faith communities both; regionally, through strong associations which have a functioning and robust executive, regional leader, and ministry coaches; and nationally, byresourcing our churches in key areas including property, finance, legal, HR, communication, leadershipcoordination and social impact.

KEY TASKS
