About the RoleAramex New Zealand has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced National H&S Manager based out one of our three key locations - Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.
As a National H&S Manager you will work closely with the General Managers, Branch Managers, and Operations Managers to support delivery of agreed H&S Strategic Goals and the effective and sustainable implementation of agreed H&S procedures.
The National H&S Manager will be pivotal in ensuring documentation is reflective of "work as done" and identifying opportunities for continual improvement in H&S practices as well as combining hands on assurance activities with coaching in "what good looks like".
This role will also act as primary point of contact for advice / guidance on H&S requirements relevant to the New Zealand H&S legislative framework.
Key Responsibilities
Systems & Processes
Ensure the Oceania H&S program is "fit for purpose" in New Zealand, meeting country specific legal requirements and maintaining ISO45001 certification.
Partner with the H&S Advisor to oversee the accuracy and effective use of the Oceania H&S database for New Zealand entities, ensuring compliance with KPIs and workflows.
Analyse H&S data and assurance findings to carry out data trend analysis and prepare performance and governance reports, providing insights and solutions for continuous improvement.
Business Partnering
Support, coach and mentor managers to understand the contents of the Health & Safety Management System (WHSMS) and their application in practice, ensuring implementation to everyday operations with confidence and success.
Identify, develop and deliver H&S training and awareness materials and programs to strengthen understanding and capability across all levels of the business.
Facilitate effective worker engagement and consultation forums, encouraging participation, feedback, and continuous improvement.
Assurance & Verification
Support the development and effective implementation of a structured and meaningful annual WHS assurance programme, confirming how well the Oceania H&S programme is used in practice, recognising and celebrating successes, and identifying continual improvement opportunities.
Conduct independent verification activities under the 3 lines of defence model, supporting management in driving continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role :
Formal qualification of NZQA Level 6 or Higher
Member of NZISM, HASANZ Register or similar professional body
Minimum 5 years practical H&S experience, in the transport / logistics industry & / or across a multi-sited organisation with a proven track record of successful H&S outcomes
Strong understanding of New Zealand H&S legal framework
Working knowledge of the New Zealand ACC requirements, would be ideal but not essential
Good communication and listening skills with the ability to influence at various levels of the organisation, including at senior operational / functional management level
Practical experience and confidence in development and delivering of H&S awareness training
Knowledge of ISO45001 & 14001 would be ideal but not essential
Competent in the use of Office 365 Software
