General Construction Management
- Provide highly visible leadership to galvanise the engineering, supervision, safety, environment, quality and support teams and work as an effective delivery team.
- Ensure projects are adequately resourced considering project complexity, client requirements and budget constraints.
- Know and apply relevant Fulton Hogan systems and procedures and approve new site procedures and instructions where necessary.
- Maintain records to meet employee, organisational and statutory requirements.
- Promptly elevate any undesirable situations or events that could negatively impact project outcomes or Fulton Hogan’s reputation.
- Promote and solidify Fulton Hogan’s reputation as a high-performing preferred contracting entity.
- Proactively manage the timely preparation and execution of deliverables to a high standard.
HSE Management & Sustainability
Meet all HSE schedule requirements to ensure accountability for SWMS, work pack reviews, permits to work, plant inspections, site inspections and leadership actions.Each team member completes at least one safety-based activity each week.Lead incident investigations as required and ensure timely close-out (within 48 hours) with action implementation.Target zero High Potential Injury and WH&S reportable incidents.Upskill and assist lower-tier sub-contractors to improve safety performance.Meet minimum contractual requirements for ISCA and lead by example.Ensure the team is trained in project controls such as forecasting, cost tracking and planning capabilities.
Forecast and ensure End of Month timetable is met.Track all costs incurred during each period and ensure accurate cost allocation.Maintain consistent forecasting with minimal month-to-month fluctuations.Identify risk and opportunity and implement mitigation measures to control risks.Identify committed and uncommitted budget and avoid negative cost corrections due to misallocation.Ensure all fields in Forecast sheets are completed (quantities, pay items, cost type, R&O, etc.).Maintain daily costs and productivity data.Demonstrate analytic ability in cost control and review monthly project forecasts.Review daily diaries and dockets; ensure quantities, labour hours and plant hours are entered into registers daily; engineers verify data daily and weekly.Produce daily costing reports; manage subcontracts with clear scope, interface coordination and timely variation closure.Pre-evaluate subcontractor claims before submission and ensure monthly reporting for ISCA and other requirements with progress claims and supporting documentation.Support procurement decisions and ensure adherence to approved limits of authority while aiming for best value.Communication
Train SPEs and PEs to lead interface meetings with subcontractors and ensure effective communication between interface teams.Communicate openly and professionally with clients and stakeholders.Provide clear direction and purpose to Senior Project Engineers and Project Engineers.Ensure key project information is disseminated to the wider project team.Design, Specification & Technical
Implement “No Change” principles unless mutually beneficial to both FHC and client.Ensure full compliance with temporary works systems and procedures.Ensure direct reports understand key specifications and designs.Resolve technical matters through the RFI process in a timely manner to prevent delays.Planning / Programme
Review and analyse project programs to assess performance against the contract program and implement mitigation measures as required.Train team to lead weekly 3-week look-ahead planning meetings and ensure direction and goals are clear.Oversee SPEs and PEs to manage daily planning meetings and overall project work plan.Ensure Construction Procedures, Work Packs, ITPs, etc. are followed and no delays due to temporary works design approval.Complete all critical path activities on or before baseline date and maintain high-level program status with subcontractors and staff.Provide servant leadership and foster positive workplace practices; develop the engineering team and mentor junior engineers.Communicate role clarity and lead interface management with external or internal parties for project outcomes.Conduct annual reviews and provide training opportunities; manage client and verifier relationships to deliver objectives.Understand applicable enterprise agreements for wages and terms and conditions.QA / Completions
Hold subcontractors to quality outcomes in line with the contract; train junior engineers on QA Management System (Civilpro) and lot management.Aim for zero repeat NCRs and no “use as is” corrective actions.Close RFIs within 10 working days and NCRs within 24 hours of identification; close out NCRs within 48 hours of completing remedial action.Lead the engineering team to close out all lots and conformance documentation within 5 days of scope completion.Manage defect processes to ensure timely identification and closeout with stakeholders’ agreement.Aim for zero defects at handover (Ensure final finishes meet high quality standards for client acceptance and close out reports within 45 days of last lot closure.Review Core, Leadership and Technical competencies in the Workday Career app for role-specific details.Qualifications
Civil Engineering Degree or equivalentExperience
