• About the Role
• We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Maori Health research team here at Maori Health Services.

This role will be based in Auckland.As a successful Project Manager, you will play a key role in conducting research on the Health Research Council Funded project `Cancer Whiri II Extending the pathway, driving the implementation of the Auckland based co-design and pilot within the Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai, Te Puriri o Te Ora service.

Whiri was developed with a pro equity focus of providing health services and care to whanau accessing and re-engaging with the health system.

Developed with a kaupapa lens, for Maori by Maori, Whiri is a critical service in mitigating unmet needs for Maori and Pacific patients who receive care from a hospital service.

Whiri aligns with the highly successful Whanau Ora approach, focussing on the needs and goals of the whanau, centred on improving equity for Maori and other priority populations whilst being grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The current Cancer Whiri II project seeks to extend the model from referral for suspicion of cancer through to completion of cancer treatment, and to develop an implementation kete to enable successful localisation and implementation of the model; which will then be piloted at two sites.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in supporting new ways of working in the health system, to address inequities using the WHIRI model of care for whanau in the Cancer WHIRI II study.

This programme of work will embrace Matauranga Maori and Te Ao Maori in order to be effective for our Maori communities and fulfil our Te Tiriti obligations.Day to day : you will be conducting research activities and providing critical management of the project across four phases.

These are : co-design, the development of the implementation kete, the pilot, and evaluation.

This will cover a range of activities that include (but are not limited to) conducting qualitative interviews, and wananga and whanau led co-design sessions working with patients / whanau, clinical staff, community and other stakeholders, using an iterative continuous quality improvement process.

The Project Manager will also support the development of a Matauranga Maori Cancer WHIRI framework, which will integrate rongoa Maori into the model of care.
