About the Role

Babcock is seeking a dynamic Senior Finance Manager to lead the finance function for our Marine business, based in Devonport.

This is a high-impact people leadership role supporting maritime sustainment across a diverse fleet—from naval ships and submarines for the Australian and New Zealand Navies to offshore support vessels.

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with exceptional people skills, with ideally a background in business intelligence and visualising analytics.

You'll work closely with internal teams, senior leaders, and Commonwealth customers, influencing outcomes and driving performance across multiple teams and locations.

Your strategic mindset and ability to think creatively will be key to solving complex challenges and shaping financial direction.

As part of the business unit leadership team, you'll deliver high-quality financial insights, improve analytics, and ensure alignment with Babcock's goals.

You'll balance short-term priorities with long-term planning, anticipate risks and opportunities, and foster continuous improvement.

To be successful, you will bring :

Legally entitled to work in New Zealand and capable of obtaining a New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) Security Clearance.

Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

Professional qualification in CA / CPA.

Extensive experience in financial business partnering, including leadership of teams and strategic financial planning across complex environments.

Commercial, Contract or Subcontract experience in Defence or other high-risk industries and understanding of contracting methods including EAC, Fixed Price, Cost plus.
