Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is recruiting a Pukenga – Lecturer or Pukenga Matua – Senior Lecturer in Mechatronics to join Te Kura Matai Pukaha, Purorohiko – School of Engineering and Computer Science on a permanent, full-time contract.
In this role, you will be responsible for teaching, research, and helping shape our new Mechatronics Engineering programme at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington.
Appointments may be made at either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
Up to two appointments may be made.
Key responsibilities
Research : Lead innovative research projects in Mechatronics, with opportunities in robotics, automation, systems engineering, space engineering, medical technologies, and sensor technology.
Teaching : Deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate courses that inspire students to become future leaders in the field.
Mentorship : Provide academic and professional guidance to students, supporting their development and success.
Collaboration : Work with industry partners, government agencies, and academic institutions to advance Mechatronics research and practice.
Service : Contribute to the department, faculty, and university through service activities and leadership roles.

You are an experienced Mechatronics professional with a passion for teaching and research.
You are student-focused, dedicated to inspiring the next generation of engineers, and bring a positive, collaborative attitude.
You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Key requirements
PhD in Mechatronics or a closely related field.
A strong research record, including publications and evidence of securing grants.
Excellent teaching skills and a passion for student inspiration and success.
Experience in industry or academia demonstrating a deep understanding of Mechatronics.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
