A rare opportunity has presented itself where we are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our team.
Based in Ellerslie, Auckland but in a hybrid capacity (3 days in the office, 2 days from home) you will be the go-to person for all Pacific (New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and India) payroll queries.
About the Position
As Payroll Specialist you will be responsible for the accountability of the Pacific payroll function providing support to the Payroll Manager, Pacific.
The role is accountable for the end-to-end payroll process including fortnightly and monthly pay cycles, ensuring compliance with all Employment Awards and New Zealand and Australian statutory legislation and regulations.
You will manage and calculate pays, PAYE, ESCT, Payroll tax, PAYG, superannuation / KiwiSaver processes and payments, and work with our 3rd party vendor to ensure payroll runs are smooth and efficient.
You will also be empowered to make process improvements in streamlining payroll processes.
Key Accountabilities
Manage end-to-end payroll for assigned Pay Groups using different systems (Workday, Cloudpay, Kronos Dimensions time & attendance).
Run Workday reports to check new hires, terminations, one-time payments, and other changes for the period.
Check integration errors and prepare templates for submission and processing to Cloudpay.
Review KRONOS timecards and amend any errors prior to exporting the pay file.
Monitor treasury funding requirement for NZ payroll.
Submit post payroll and month end reports to finance (Leave Liability Reports, Customs GL Reports, Oncost, etc.).
Perform leave review reconciliation after each pay run for NZ.
Assist to monitor all Pacific payroll related activities.
Maintain good working relationships with service providers externally including Cloudpay (outsourced Payroll Solution), UKG Pro / Kronos Dimensions (Time & Attendance System) and any other relationship with services in use.
Ensure a high standard of service is delivered to all internal / external stakeholders.
Ensure all payroll queries are responded to in a professional and timely manner, provide training and advice to managers and employees regarding all payroll matters.
Calculate and process termination payments including KiwiSaver, Australian and New Zealand superannuation and leave entitlements and / or redundancy payments and ensure income tax / withholding tax applications.
Manage legislative and statutory requirements including superannuation, tax and other payroll obligations in NZ / AU compliance with applicable laws.
Support timecard exceptions and sign off weekly, fortnightly, and monthly pay cycles.
Handle Kronos related issues including system enquiries and password management.
Perform other duties as required.
Skills & Experience
Demonstrated ability in interpreting awards and agreements and understanding current legislation and obligations ideally within an NZ and AU environment.
Be competent to work autonomously across many different work groups in a fast-paced work environment.
Exceptional customer service, attention to detail and analytical skills.
Hands on experience working in a high-volume payroll environment (1000+ employees).
Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
Advanced Excel skills with the ability to write reports and manipulate data.
Experience using the following systems : Kronos (Time & Attendance), Cloudpay (Payroll), Workday (HRMS).
