JOB DESCRIPTION
We currently have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our teams as a Senior Librarian, based at Mangere Town Centre Library.
Some flexibility will be required as you may need to work from other sites in the Mangere-Otahuhu local board (Mangere Bridge, Mangere East and Otahuhu Libraries).
In this senior, customer focused role, you will be leading and contributing to the day to day running of the library and frontline library & council services.
You will work closely with our Senior Librarians team across our local board to design and deliver literacy and learning activities and initiatives that target Tamariki, Rangatahi, Pasifika and Maori whanau, and are driven by community need.
A key aspect of this role is that you will be a role model and coach in providing excellent customer service to the local community and surrounding areas.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity working 40 hours per week.
Roster includes weekend day and four weekdays, with potential late-night shifts.
We are seeking a community leader, ideally with experience working with diverse communities.
Strong communication and digital skills are a must, as well as an ability to foster literacy and community engagement.
You will bring with you a sound knowledge of library technologies and processes, enthusiasm, and an ability to collaborate in the development, implementation and delivery of services and programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain relationships with local diverse groups, including our Maori, Pasifika and new immigrant communities.
Provide leadership with strong communication skills.
Act as the senior on site and have capability, capacity, and confidence to lead when required.
Plan and evaluate innovative programmes and events.
Build relationships with ethnic and diverse communities, whanau, schools, churches, local organisations, other council services, and peers.
Support customers in using information resources and devices available at the library.
Work collaboratively with the library team in the delivery and design of innovative programmes and events.
Lead in community relationships.
LIANZA registration (required).
NZ Divers Licence preferred.
Collaborate with teams in the Local board, sharing skills, knowledge and expertise.

We are expecting to appoint the successful candidate between $88,528 - $93,735 depending on experience.
Auckland Council is committed to the protection and wellbeing of children.
