Lecturer / Senior Lecturer, Software Engineering

University of Auckland – Department of Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Design.

Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week).

Salary range $97,831 – $142,883 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

About the role

You will undertake high-quality research and teaching in the broad field of Software Engineering.

You will contribute to the activities of the Software Engineering research group and play a key role in shaping the Department's strategic growth in software engineering education and research.

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate Software Engineering courses across the specialisations of Software, Computer Systems, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, as well as postgraduate course development.

Collaboration with colleagues across disciplines to advance the Department's teaching and research excellence is expected.

Research focus

Potential research areas include :

AI for Software Engineering

Software as a Service (SaaS) and related technologies

Software architecture and design

Software security

Green and sustainable software

Other areas of software engineering may also be considered, but AI for Software Engineering is a priority area of focus.

Qualifications

A PhD in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.

A strong track record of published research in Software Engineering or a related field.

Experience conducting high-quality academic research.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to work collaboratively and lead initiatives.

Commitment to innovative, inclusive, and culturally responsive teaching.

Preferred

Experience supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research.

Research expertise in AI for SE, SaaS, software architecture and design, software security, or sustainable software.

Demonstrated academic leadership potential and ability to secure research funding.
