Clinical Nurse Specialist - Older Adults

Location : Kenepuru, Wellington Regional and Hutt Hospitals

Contract : Fixed Term ending 01 March 2026 - 1.00 FTE

About the Role

Are you a clinical nursing expert passionate about advancing Māori health equity for older adults? We are seeking a Kaiārahi tae Pakeke - Clinical Nurse Specialist Māori for Older Adults to join our team and lead with a strong Te Tiriti o Waitangi and matauranga Māori focus.

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in Māori health and contribute to transformative change in the care of older Māori adults.

Please note : As this is a fixed-term position, the core focus of the role will be within the hospital setting. The successful applicant will work across Kenepuru, Wellington, and Hutt Valley Hospitals, supporting whānau, and clinical teams on-site to deliver high-quality, equitable care.

About the Team / Service Location

Whānau Care Services supports Māori whānau throughout their health journey, ensuring culturally safe, equitable care across Kenepuru, Wellington and Hutt Valley hospitals. Based in both Wellington and Hutt Hospitals, the team connects whānau with appropriate services, advocates for their needs, and strengthens relationships between health providers and Māori and Community Primary Care providers. We work closely with whānau and clinical services to deliver coordinated, whānau-centred support. By influencing service design and delivery, Whānau Care Services helps shape a health system that reflects Māori values and aspirations, improving outcomes and empowering whānau both in hospital and at home.

About you

Integrate Te Ao Māori perspectives with advanced nursing practice to deliver high-quality, culturally responsive care.

  • Champion equity and excellence in health outcomes for Pakeke Māori (older Māori adults).
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to uphold Māori health strategies and support best practice across services.

As a clinical nursing leader, you will :

  • Provide specialist nursing advice and direct care for Pakeke Māori.
  • Support and guide other staff through expert clinical modelling, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Promote culturally safe and effective care that reflects Māori values and aspirations.
