- The Opportunity
- Asteron is seeking a seasoned insurance professional to lead its reinsurance function as Manager of Reinsurance, joining a dynamic and collaborative Actuarial team. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the administration and performance reporting of Asteron’s reinsurance treaties, while also shaping and executing the company’s broader reinsurance strategy. The successful candidate will play a key role in aligning reinsurance operations with corporate objectives and market standards, ensuring that all treaty obligations are met through effective cross-functional engagement.As the Reinsurance Manager, you will take ownership of critical strategic initiatives, including the development and regular review of Asteron’s Reinsurance Management Strategy. You’ll ensure data integrity and model governance in accordance with Asteron’s model review framework, and lead improvements in treaty performance reporting. Your expertise will also be instrumental in managing reinsurance agreements—ensuring they reflect negotiated terms and are executed promptly—and in fostering strong, productive relationships with reinsurance partners through negotiation and ongoing collaboration.This role also contributes to the broader actuarial function, supporting and leading key projects that drive innovation and operational excellence across the business. With a focus on stakeholder engagement and strategic alignment, the Reinsurance Manager will be a central figure in ensuring Asteron’s reinsurance practices remain robust, forward-looking, and responsive to market developments.

- Associate or Fellow of the NZ Society of Actuaries or qualified Chartered Accounting. Other relevant expertise and experience will be considered.
- Experience in insurance or financial services (preferably in life insurance or reinsurance).
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
