Wā Ora Montessori School is an Area School based in Lower Hutt, Wellington, catering for approximately 300 tamariki (children) and is the only Montessori School in New Zealand that nurtures the child from 0 to 18 years. We are a community based school with close connections to our whānau (families).

Wā Ora Montessori School is seeking a permanent, part‑Time PE teacher (0.42 FTTE) to join our friendly and collaborative high school teaching team. The ideal candidate will have New Zealand teacher registration, prior experience teaching students from Y8–13 (12–18 years of age) and knowledge of the NCEA PE curriculum.

A willingness and ability to take part in the special instruction and education appropriate to the special character of our school is also a condition of appointment.

The position is able to be delivered on either a Tuesday or Thursday morning for Y11–13 from 9–11.45 am with the expectation that you are onsite from 8.30 am–12 pm. We are able to be flexible with the candidate’s availability for this age group. For Y8–10, the position is delivered on Wednesdays from 9 am–3.15 pm with the expectation that you are onsite from 8.30 am–4 pm.

Wā Ora Montessori School is close to many community facilities that we are able to use for teaching the programme e.g. Walter Nash Centre, Te Ngaengae (Naenae) Pool; Naenae Park; Hutt Valley Badminton Hall.

The position is for a start date for the end of January, term 1 2026.
