The Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu Nomination And Appointment Process is being undertaken to appoint Ngāi Tahu representatives to the Species Recovery Groups for Takahē and Whio.
Functions of the Species Recovery Groups
Purpose of the role
The purpose of these roles is to represent the Ngāi Tahu perspective to the Species Recovery Groups Takahē and Whio, ensuring that any issues of tribal significance are reported to Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu while also ensuring that tribal matters of significance are represented.
Required Skills, Experience And Qualifications
Meeting details
An in-person annual or bi-annual meeting of 1–3 days, sometimes involving a field trip and online meetings. Frequency depends on the work for the respective Species Recovery Groups. Remuneration of $500 per day. Travel and accommodation expenses will also be met, either by DOC or Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu.
How To Apply
To apply for the position you will need to engage with your Papatipu Rūnanga to complete the selection and nomination process. Nominations are open to the following Papatipu Rūnanga for the Takahē and Whio Species Recovery Groups :
Papatipu Rūnanga eligible to nominate for the Species Recovery Group - Takahē
Te Rūnaka o Awarua, Hokonui Rūnanga, Ōraka Aparima Rūnaka, Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio, Te Rūnaka o Waihōpai
Papatipu Rūnanga eligible to nominate for the Species Recovery Group - Whio
Te Rūnanga Kaikōura, Te Ngāi Tūāhuriri Rūnanga, Te Rūnanga o Ōtākou, Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Waewae, Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio, Kati Huirapa Rūnaka ki Puketeraki, Te Rūnaka o Awarua, Hokonui Rūnanga, Ōraka Aparima Rūnaka, Te Rūnaka o Waihōpai
