Senior Freshwater Ecologist - Christchurch

Wildland Consultants is seeking to fill several ecological positions in New Zealand, including Ecological Restoration Team Members, a Freshwater Ecologist, a Senior Ecologist (Herpetofauna), and an Ecological Restoration Team Leader.

Ecological Restoration Team Members - Auckland and Christchurch

The role involves undertaking ecological restoration work, including pest plant control, planting, and pest animal control. Applicants should have a willingness to contribute and work in a team, be physically fit, and have a passion for working outdoors in all sorts of weather.

• Prior experience in pest plant control, planting, and pest animal control is preferred but not essential.
• A genuine interest in working in the outdoors and achieving conservation goals.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• A good work ethic, efficient, and H&S conscious.
• A good level of fitness.
• Full NZ driver’s license (preferred).

Freshwater Ecologist - Christchurch

The successful applicant will have a degree in ecology, specializing in freshwater ecology or a related field, and at least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience. They should have experience in ecological effects assessments, ecological survey work, management, and restoration of natural areas, as well as project and budget management skills.

Senior Ecologist (Herpetofauna) - Christchurch

The successful applicant will have a degree in ecology, specializing in herpetofauna or a related field, and at least 5+ years of experience as a Herpetologist, preferably with at least 3 years of consultancy experience. They should have a strong background in herpetology, including preparation and implementation of Lizard Management Plans, presenting expert evidence, and experience using a range of different and novel survey methods and techniques.

Ecological Restoration Team Leader - Christchurch

The successful applicant will have a professional work ethic, and at least two years of restoration experience. They should be able to communicate effectively to their team / supervisor and manager, have excellent planning and problem-solving skills, and a positive and efficient work ethic.
