Research Fellow (Genome Editing - Directed Evolution)National University of Singapore – QueenstownThe National University of Singapore is the national research university of Singapore.
Founded in
The Synthetic Biology TRP focuses on developing novel genome editing tools by engineering CRISPR systems, enhancing their function through fusion with other enzymes, and applying high-throughput screening strategies to isolate improved variants. The Research Fellow (RF) will play a key role in implementing directed evolution experiments using phage-based platforms to evolve genome editing proteins with enhanced properties.
Appointments will initially be made on a 1-year contract, with the possibility of extension.
PhD holders with no prior experience in phage-based evolution systems are welcome to apply and will receive necessary training.ResponsibilitiesDesign and perform phage-based directed evolution experiments to engineer novel genome editing proteins.Rationally identify protein engineering sites and generate diverse mutant libraries.Conduct functional assays in mammalian cell lines and primary cells to evaluate genome editing efficiency.Analyze editing outcomes using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and other molecular tools.Mentor research assistants, graduate, and undergraduate students.Collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator and team members in experimental planning and troubleshooting.Assist in any other duties as delegated by the Principal Investigator and group leaders.QualificationsA PhD in Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related field.Hands-on experience in molecular cloning, library construction, and microbial genetics.Familiarity with or interest in applying phage systems for directed protein evolution.Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Experience with NGS-based assays for genome editing is a plus.A track record of international publications.Location & ApplicationRemuneration will be commensurate to the candidate's qualifications and experience.
