- About the Role
- The Senior Advisor role sits in the Major Projects team within the Protection Directorate of the National Public Health Service (NPHS).
We are seeking a strong Senior Advisor to join our team.
In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping the business environment for our projects to succeed.
Your work will significantly impact public health outcomes across New Zealand and help to ensure that our new systems enable equitable outcomes.Our ideal candidate will have :
An in-depth understanding of operational Public Health at a local, regional and national level within the NPHSA passion for realising the benefits of technology supported public health.An understand or willingness to develop understanding of privacy considerations across health technology systems including the application of the Privacy Act 2020.A background in high level technical writing, including papers, minutes, reports, aide memoires and policyThe ability to adeptly build and maintain relationships with complex stakeholder groups, managing their expectations, and keeping them informedAbout the Team / Service / LocationThe NPHS within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

A relevant tertiary qualification, and a minimum of four years' experience or, a minimum of seven years' appropriate equivalent experienceExperience, knowledge and skills in relation to working with Maori and Pacific peoples / communities / stakeholdersExperience in implementing and evaluating Te Tiriti o Waitangi into workProven relationship management and influencing skillsExperience, in the design and managed a project of work and resourcesProgramme management and administration skills, effectively coordinating multiple activities and ability to plan and monitor outcome achievementExperience in an advisory role, applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide adviceProfessionalism, including effective inter-personal communication, teamwork, accountability, self-management, time and risk managementStrong analytical skills combined with an ability to quickly assimilate new information, and to write and talk about complex issues clearly and concisely with a range of audiencesDeveloping knowledge and skills to deal effectively with complex and politically sensitive situations or topics.Good understanding and / or previous experience in applying critical thinking using sound judgement to develop and inform options for a health in all policies approach alongside the machinery of governmentWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.We embrace a workforce that is diverse and inclusive so that we are better positioned to understand and service our community
