Join to apply for the Advisor, Policy Project role at Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, New ZealandWellington-based | Fixed Term to June 2026, Full-time roleAbout The DepartmentThe Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) occupies a unique space within the heart of government supporting the Prime Minister, Cabinet and the Governor General to lead and govern New Zealand.

The department also has an important role to build a stronger, more secure nation through our national resilience, risk and national security activity.About the RoleAs an Advisor in the Policy Project team, you\'ll play a key role in helping to strengthen policy capability across the public service.

This early-career role offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills and gain insight into the policy process while supporting the delivery of the Policy Project work programme.

You\'ll contribute to a range of initiatives, including delivering training and resources, supporting workshops, forums, and events, and helping to grow an active and connected policy community.

You\'ll work closely with a wide range of stakeholders — from government agencies and non-government organisations to universities, professional bodies, and international partners — promoting the use of Policy Project frameworks and resources to improve policy quality and impact.About YouTo succeed in this role, we are looking for someone with : Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present confidently.A working understanding of the machinery of government and good knowledge of policy and regulatory processes.Experience in building and maintaining networks and relationships across agencies.The ability to design, plan, and deliver effective engagements, including online engagements, and creating collateral for these activities.A working knowledge of web-based and online engagement tools.A practical, self-motivated, and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to innovate and solve problems in a complex and time-constrained environment.This role provides an opportunity to work directly with the Policy Project to help improve and influence system-wide policy capability and public service outcomes.Why Join Us?
