Senior Advisor, National Security and Resilience

The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) supports the government of the day by leading, advising, stewarding and delivering activities across the public sector, and by providing dedicated advice and support to the Governor-General, Prime Minister and portfolio Ministers.
About The Role

DPMC\'s National Security and Resilience group is seeking Senior Policy Advisors to shape and deliver work that spans national risk and resilience and national security policy.
Successful applicants will lead or co-lead the provision of advice to Ministers and Chief Executives, coordination of work programmes across government, and engagement in a range of international fora.
These are exciting roles at the heart of central government.
You\'ll work with agencies across the public service, including intelligence, defence, security, and more, on a range of topics highlighted in the National Security Strategy and National Risk and Resilience Framework.
In this role
Lead or co-lead significant policy workstreams on national risk, resilience, or security matters, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
Prepare strategy and policy papers, briefings, internal reports, and Ministerial material to support decision-making.
Conduct research and analysis, and synthesise insights from a range of sources to inform advice.
Support the development and passage of legislation and regulations.
Monitor domestic and international developments in national security, national risk and resilience policy.
Represent DPMC in inter-agency projects, meetings, and consultations across the national security and resilience systems.
Engage with international partners to share information and best practice, and collaborate on policy and operational issues.
Mentor and support junior policy advisors, contributing to the development of team capability.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring
A tertiary degree in a relevant field such as public policy, international relations, security studies, law, political science, economics, risk management, or a related area.
Proven track record of providing timely, high-quality policy advice in a fast-paced and complex environment.
Experience working on cross-agency initiatives and developing policy within multi-stakeholder environments.
Exposure to issues relating to national security, national risk and resilience, critical infrastructure, or crisis response is desirable.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a national security clearance at Top Secret Special level
