DPMC's National Security and Resilience group is seeking Advisors to contribute to work that spans national risk and resilience and national security policy.

Successful applicants will support the provision of advice to Ministers and Chief Executives, coordination of work programmes across government, and engagement in a range of international fora.

These are exciting roles at the heart of central government.

You\'ll work with agencies across the public service, including intelligence, defence, security, and more, on a range of topics highlighted in the National Security Strategy and National Risk and Resilience Framework.As an Advisor, you\'ll be responsible for supporting policy development on dynamic, high-profile, and significant issues in a collaborative, cross-agency environment.

Specifically, you\'ll support the development and delivery of high-quality policy advice on national security and national risk and resilience issues.

You\'ll engage with whole-of-government systems and contribute to work that strengthens New Zealand\'s ability to anticipate, manage, and respond to threats and emerging challenges.ResponsibilitiesContribute to the development of policy options and recommendations on national risk and resilience, or national security matters.Draft strategy and policy papers, briefings, and internal reports to support decision-making.Conduct research, analysis, and synthesise insights from a range of sources to support informed advice.Support the development and passage of legislation and regulations.Monitor domestic and international developments in national security, and national risk and resilience policy.Participate in inter-agency projects, meetings, and consultations across the national security and resilience systems.Assist in planning, coordinating, and supporting high level attendance at international meetings and engagements.About YouTo succeed in this role, you will bring : A tertiary degree in a relevant field such as public policy, international relations, security studies, law, political science, economics, risk management, or a related areaStrong policy research and analysis capability, with the ability to interpret complex informationStrong writing and oral communications skillsThe ability to build relationships across a wide array of stakeholdersEnthusiasm, diligence and curiosityAn interest in national security, and national risk and resiliencePrevious experience in junior policy, legislation or regulation is an advantage but not necessaryThis position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a nation security clearance at Top Secret Special levelWorking at DPMC means being at the heart of some of the most significant and impactful work in Aotearoa New Zealand.
