In Christchurch we specialise in horizontal infrastructure installations including water, gas, power, and drainage in new subdivisions and existing roads.What we do differently : We train our people and progress them through the company as opportunities ariseWe match up to 4% Kiwisaver from day one, then pay 6% after five years' serviceWe support our people with free access to a confidential Employee Assistance ProgrammeDescriptionObjectivesThis is a position predominantly working on the installation of buried horizontal infrastructure, although other work may be required from time to time.Undertake the role of Plant Operator along with Driving and Labouring throughout the branch's respective districtAdherence to Company policy and compliance with Health and Safety in all tasksWork TasksPlant OperatorProvide support to successful completion of construction and 3 waters workHandling and / or moving materialPerform road work, excavation work, lifting work, etc.Routine maintenance of plant ie greasingSafe operation of plant including Graders, Rollers, excavators and loaders and associated attachments ie lifting devices / forklift etcKnowledge of the excavator loading requirements; load charts; critical picks and lifting devicesEffectively communicate to all site personnel.

Respond to signals and directions by the staff and work in coordination with themReport damage and maintenance needs as per company policy.Identify, report and correct hazards as per company policyEnsure and manage the machines or equipment in a safe and secure way.Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure all work is done in a manner which enhances the safety of the work environmentWork in adherence to safe practices, procedures, work site or traffic laws.Complete works to achieve the required quality standards.DrivingGeneral driving duties as requiredLabouringLabouring is an inherent component to your role and is required.
