Automation Engineer - Technical

Overview

Are you an automation engineer with a passion for technology, systems, and innovation? Join Synlait on a fixed-term basis for 8 months and contribute to leading-edge automation projects in a high-tech, highly automated dairy manufacturing environment. This role is hands-on, requires problem solving, and involves working with a team focused on operational excellence through smart technology.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and support site-wide automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA platforms (e.g., InTouch, Ignition)
• Support capital projects by contributing to the design and implementation of automation and controls
• Work with recipe management, traceability systems, and ERP integration to optimise production
• Troubleshoot automation issues, investigate root causes, and implement robust technical solutions
• Contribute to OT network design, data architecture, and cybersecurity protocols
• Work cross-functionally with production, maintenance, IT, and quality teams

You may be an experienced automation engineer or early in your career with strong practical exposure – either way, you’re keen to learn, proactive, and tech-savvy.
