In Christchurch we specialise in horizontal infrastructure installations including water, gas, power, and drainage in new subdivisions and existing roads.OverviewThis is a skilled supervisory and foreman position predominantly working in the installation of buried horizontal infrastructure and related work.
The role includes acting as Supervisor to less experienced Foremen on job sites, providing guidance to help them grow, training labourers and mid-tier staff, upholding health and safety standards, and ensuring quality.
You will also act as Foreman on one or more projects and manage crews, while supporting Project Managers with technical and operational queries on site.ResponsibilitiesEnsure the required personnel, machinery and materials are available on site at the appropriate times to complete project work efficiently.Complete works to meet or exceed minimum quality standards; minimise rework to protect costs and reputation.Liaise with client representatives on site and document any scope or programme changes.Manage the work of subcontractors and complete projects as instructed by the Project Manager or Manager.Document time and materials used for charge-up work.Promote the company's reputation through safe, high-quality delivery.Staff Management & LeadershipForemen are managers; lead by example and ensure site staff are productive and focused.Address small staff issues on site; escalate more serious matters to Project Managers or above.Maintain professional relationships on site, reward crew success when appropriate.Provide supervision to staff to ensure competencies and safe practices are followed.RelationshipsEarn the respect of site staff through active leadership.Maintain professional relationships at work, even with personal friendships outside work.Recognise and celebrate great work within the crew when possible.Skills and ExperiencesExperience in 3 waters installation (essential).
Experience as a foreman (essential).
Water or drainage qualifications (essential).
Class 1 driver licence with WTR endorsements (preferred).
CCC approved for water or drainage (preferred).
STMS, First Aid, Construct Safe qualifications (preferred).
Class 2 driver licence (preferred).
