Earth Sciences NZ was established on 1 July
Bringing together multidisciplinary expertise and advanced technology, it will excel in earth, environmental, and natural resources science across six core missions : Geological Hazards, Weather and Climate, Energy, Land and Freshwater, Atmosphere and Climate, and Oceans.
This new entity forms part of the most significant reform to New Zealand's science and innovation system in more than three decades, designed to create a more dynamic, collaborative, and impactful science system.
Following the acquisition of MetService, Earth Sciences NZ will comprise around 1,500 staff across 22 sites, with assets of approximately $400 million and annual revenues of $370 million, including substantial commercial streams.

About The Position
Earth Sciences NZ is seeking a proactive and organised HSW Coordinator to support our Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a safe, healthy, and inclusive workplace across a multi-site organisation.
What You'll Do
Provide coordination and admin support for HSW activities
Maintain HSW systems, databases, and records
Support incident reporting and follow-up processes
Liaise with internal teams and external providers
Coordinate health monitoring, training, and wellbeing initiatives
Assist with audits, reporting and HSW communications
What You'll Bring
4-5+ years' experience in HSW coordinator or similar role
Strong organisational and time management skills
Attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities
Proficiency in Microsoft Tools, including Microsoft Office and SharePoint, and experience using Microsoft Forms and Power BI
A team-focused, approachable attitude with a genuine interest in wellbeing
