About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Advisor to support a large construction project based in Taupo.
You'll play a critical role in ensuring safe work practices on-site, supporting supervisors and workers, and maintaining compliance with all relevant NZ Health & Safety legislation.
You will be responsible for driving a strong safety culture, conducting regular site inspections, and providing guidance to ensure every worker goes home safely each day.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily site walkovers, inspections, and audits
Support toolbox meetings and deliver safety briefings
Investigate incidents, hazards, and near misses; complete ICAM reports where required
Maintain and update Health & Safety documentation and registers
Ensure compliance with HSWA
Assist with inductions, training, and onboarding
Work closely with site management to implement corrective actions
Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the project
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in a Health & Safety Advisor in New Zealand or similar role within construction or industrial works
Strong working knowledge of New Zealand H&S legislation
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
Ability to influence safe behaviours across diverse teams
Computer literacy (MS Office, site safety reporting tools)
Valid NZ driver's licence
Relevant safety certifications (e.g., Site Safe, HASANZ registration, NEBOSH, or Diploma-level H&S qualifications) are advantageous
