Join to apply for the Events and Fundraising Manager role at Robert Walters

KidsCan, a leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting children in need across New Zealand, is seeking a passionate Fundraising and Events Manager to join their Albany Head Office in Auckland. With a focus on both strategic planning and hands-on execution, this position provides a unique blend of creative campaign development, logistical event management, and meaningful relationship building.

What You'll Do

As the Fundraising and Events Manager, you will be entrusted with elevating the organisation’s fundraising activity through both strategic oversight and hands-on delivery. Your day-to-day will involve collaborating closely with the Senior Events and Fundraising Manager to bring a variety of impactful events to life—from concept through execution—while ensuring every detail aligns with KidsCan’s mission.

You will take charge of key national campaigns like the Christmas Cracker appeal by overseeing creative development, partner engagement, activation logistics, and post-campaign evaluation. Your ability to build strong relationships with supporters—whether they are individuals or corporate partners—will be crucial as you seek out new opportunities for income generation.

Working alongside marketing professionals ensures that every campaign is communicated powerfully across multiple channels. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining meticulous records using CRM platforms like Raiser’s Edge while keeping a close eye on budgets.

  • Support the Senior Events and Fundraising Manager in the comprehensive planning, production, and delivery of all KidsCan-owned and partnered events, ensuring seamless execution within set timelines and budgets.
  • Oversee all aspects of event logistics including site planning, run sheets, supplier liaison, permissions / consents, staffing arrangements, merchandise coordination, health & safety compliance, and volunteer management.
  • Develop and implement effective acquisition and engagement strategies designed to increase event registrations and participation from diverse audiences such as schools, workplaces, and community groups.
  • Lead pre- and post-event briefing processes with the Marketing team to guarantee consistent messaging and compelling communication across every supporter touchpoint.
  • Conduct thorough post-event analysis by reporting on financial outcomes, gathering supporter feedback, tracking media coverage, and evaluating return on investment to inform future improvements.
  • Take full ownership of national fundraising campaigns—including the flagship Christmas Cracker appeal—by managing everything from creative planning and partner acquisition to activation, delivery, and wrap-up activities.
  • Build new relationships with brand, retail, and prize partners while nurturing existing supporters to ensure year-on-year growth in campaign participation and revenue generation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to align campaign assets, messaging strategies, fulfilment processes, and performance tracking for maximum efficiency.
  • Represent KidsCan at fundraising functions and community events to foster positive connections that expand organisational visibility and support base.
  • Prepare pitch materials, campaign proposals, contracts, memoranda of understanding (MOUs), maintain accurate records using CRM systems (such as Raiser’s Edge), monitor budgets closely for all assigned activities, complete risk management plans for each event or campaign initiative.

What You Bring

Your background may include roles within not-for-profits or other purpose-led organisations where you have honed your ability to manage logistics efficiently while keeping sight of broader strategic goals. You thrive when managing multiple priorities thanks to your exceptional organisational skills. Analytical thinking allows you to interpret data effectively so that each campaign builds upon previous successes.

Financial stewardship is second nature—you’re adept at monitoring budgets while ensuring resources are used wisely. Proficiency with digital tools like Microsoft Office is expected; any experience with CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge will further enhance your effectiveness.

  • Demonstrated experience managing all phases of event planning—including logistics coordination, budgeting oversight, supplier management responsibilities—and successful on-the-day delivery within not-for-profit or purpose-driven environments.
  • A solid background in marketing communications or business development that enables you to craft compelling campaigns which grow supporter engagement while achieving revenue targets.
  • Proven track record of building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels; your interpersonal skills allow you to collaborate effectively across internal teams as well as external partners.
  • Exceptional project management abilities combined with excellent time management skills so you can juggle multiple projects simultaneously without missing deadlines or compromising quality.
  • Analytical mindset that empowers you to evaluate campaign results critically; you use data insights to refine strategies for ongoing improvement.
  • Financial acumen demonstrated by experience managing budgets accurately; you are comfortable reporting on financial performance related to fundraising activities.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with CRM platforms such as Raiser’s Edge is highly advantageous but not essential if you have similar database experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills enabling clear briefings for collateral development as well as persuasive pitches when seeking new partnerships.
  • What Sets This Company Apart

KidsCan is a leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing food, clothing and health products to schools and early childhood centres in areas of high deprivation across New Zealand. With the essentials covered, kids can focus on learning, which gives them a pathway out of poverty. Their values of positivity, teamwork, respect for all people, commitment to their cause, and wellbeing underpin how they work together as one team to make a difference for Kiwi Kids.
