IDEA Services supports people with intellectual disabilities to enjoy great lives at home and as part of their community.

As a Support Worker you will be supporting clients with complex needs, managing risk, ensuring safety, and providing individual care.

We would prefer someone who has previous experience working within the disability sector or aged care.

Dealing with challenging behaviour can be tough, but with the right approach, we can make a difference, promote positive behaviours, and create a supportive environment for people to thrive.

You will be supporting individuals with complex behavioural support needs.

Part of what you do each day will be helping them to recognise and respond to emotional overwhelm and react safely to this.

We are looking for someone physically active who has the resilience and confidence to work with challenging behaviours.

This role involves helping the people we support to :

recognise and respond to emotional overwhelm.

grow their independence and learn skills for daily living such as using public transport, getting a job, cooking a meal.

manage their daily routines - toileting, showering, getting dressed, take medication or eat a meal.

pursue their goals, interests, and hobbies.

stay healthy and making positive choices about their lifestyle.

have strong connections with their whanau and community.

Preferably previous experience in caregiving or providing personal care for adults.

A calm nature and confidence to work with challenging behaviours.

Availability to work flexible shifts, including alternate weekends and sleepover shifts.

Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support.

Full NZ driver\'s license.

Must have full rights to work and live in New Zealand.

Healthcare qualifications are advantageous.

Qualifications

Experience as a support worker or caregiver preferred (disability or aged care).

Permanent full time with weekend and sleepover availability; alternate weekends required.

$23.84 - $29.10 per hour depending on relevant qualifications, with the ability to earn more as you gain qualifications.
