The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced Principal Ecologist to lead ecological strategy, compliance, and restoration planning for the Bendigo-Ophir Gold Project.

You’ll play a key role in protecting biodiversity, designing and implementing habitat restoration programmes, and ensuring our operations align with the highest environmental standards.

This is a diverse and rewarding role that combines strategic leadership, hands‑on fieldwork, and stakeholder collaboration across one of the most exciting developments in Central Otago.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the project’s ecological management strategy to meet RMA and consent requirements.
• Provide expert advice on biodiversity conservation, species management, and rehabilitation planning.
• Lead fieldwork programmes across flora, fauna, freshwater, and dryland ecosystems.
• Manage ecological consultants, contractors, and seasonal field teams.
• Build trusted relationships with mana whenua, DOC, ORC, CODC, and local communities.
• Prepare ecological reports, monitoring results, and biodiversity offset plans.
