Branch Manager

Overview

Carters has an exciting opportunity for a talented and highly motivated branch manager to launch our new Wanaka branch, planned for opening early 2026. This is a great opportunity for an experienced people leader to build a branch from the ground up. We're on the hunt for someone who can build a high-performing team from scratch and lead a new team to success. Our ideal candidate will be deeply rooted in the Wanaka community, with strong local connections and relationships, and a solid understanding of the surrounding area. This autonomous role encompasses a blend of people management, customer relationship management and operational oversight of the branch with a strong focus on sales to grow our market share in the region.

Your strong commercial acumen and proven sales management will distinguish you as a standout candidate, enabling you to lead your team through values-based leadership. You will bring robust analytical and operational capabilities, a solid grasp of key business drivers including P&L performance. Maintaining and building market share combined with exceptional customer relationships and strong people leadership skills will be imperative to your success, as is the ability to persevere in a highly competitive industry.

About you

You\'ll succeed in this role because you have the following skills, experience and values :

• Proven leadership with overall responsibility for your financials, staff management and operational growth.
• An eye for emerging markets. You understand the value of price and margin in building a profitable business.
• Highly self-motivated. You work well autonomously and have a natural desire to grow your team, develop their training needs and maximise branch profitability.
• Strong commercial adaptability and agility. You\'re a fast learner, thrive on challenges and can adapt quickly to market changes.
• Business Management - ideally with sound sales capability built into your management experience
• Understanding of operations . Preferably from previous work experience in an operational setting.
• Building or trade industry knowledge is advantageous, however, we have a comprehensive Branch Manager Training Programme which will give you all you need to excel in this role.
