You will be supporting both male and female Tangata (care recipients) with intellectual disabilities who require high-level 1 : 1 care to assist in their rehabilitation journey.
Responsibilities include : Assisting with physical and personal care, ensuring good hygiene such as washing and showeringSupporting with cooking, household cleaning, and maintenance to ensure a safe and healthy home environmentAdministering medicationDriving to appointments, gym classes, and shoppingPerforming various duties to promote independent livingIt is important that you can work on a rotating roster, including weekends and overnight shifts.About YouThis role is unique and vital to the care of our Tangata.
You should be adaptable to different individuals, as our Tangata lead active lifestyles.
Key qualities include : Qualification in health, wellbeing, community support, mental health, or disability sectors is advantageous but not mandatoryConfidence, practicality, and good listening skills to address the needs of our TangataExperience in personal care is desirableA solution-focused and empathetic approach to interactionsPhysical fitness to lift and be on your feet most of the dayAdditional RequirementsFull, clean Class 1 driver's license with no restrictions (mandatory)Legal right to work in New Zealand; sponsorships, open work visas, or student visas are not supportedPolice vetting and health checks will be requiredAbout UsTe Whariki Whakaruruhau is a Maori kaupapa service based on the Te Roopu Taurima model, emphasizing respect and whanau values.
