We support both male and female Tangata (care recipients) with intellectual disabilities who require high levels of 1 : 1 care to assist in their rehabilitation journey.
Responsibilities include : Assisting with physical and personal care, ensuring good hygiene such as washing and showeringSupporting with cooking, household cleaning, and maintenance to keep the home safe and healthyAdministering medicationDriving to appointments, gym classes, and shoppingPerforming various duties to support independent livingWork involves a rotating roster, including weekends, public holidays, and overnight shifts.Ko wai koe | About YouThis role is unique and vital to the care of our Tangata.
You should be able to relate well to different people, as our Tangata lead active lifestyles, requiring you to : Possess qualifications in health and wellbeing, community support, mental health, or disability sectors (advantageous but not mandatory)Be confident, practical, and a good listener to meet our Tangata's needsPrevious experience in personal care is desirableHave a solution-focused and empathetic approach to interactionsBe physically fit, able to lift, and able to stand for most of the dayPlease note : A full, clean Class 1 driver's license with no restrictions is mandatory.You must reside in and be legally entitled to work in New Zealand; this role does not sponsor visas or work permits.Police vetting and health checks are required.Mo matou | About UsTe Whariki Whakaruruhau follows the Te Roopu Taurima model, emphasizing the intrinsic value and relationships of Tangata, their whanau, and kaimahi.
