Te Kapehu Whetu is a kura in Whangarei dedicated to empowering akonga to confidently navigate their futures as Maori, educated, and rangatira.
Our kaupapa Maori is grounded in Te Reo Maori and Tikanga, guiding our students to succeed in all aspects of life.
We are seeking a passionate, qualified pouako putaiao (science teacher) to join our team.
In this role, you will teach a diverse range of students from Y9 to 13, developing and delivering science lessons aligned with NCEA standards and our kaupapa Maori.
You will create engaging, inquiry-based lessons that foster curiosity and scientific thinking.
This role offers the potential to teach across two sites (Whangarei and Auckland) for a couple of days each week, extending the reach of our educational impact.
The ideal candidate will :
Hold a degree in science or a related field (preference for expertise in taiao, biology, health, or STEM).
Have teaching experience in Y9-13 and a commitment to student success.
Be proficient in or willing to learn Te Reo Maori, working in an integrated immersion environment.
Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and whanau.
Hold a New Zealand Practising Certificate or equivalent, and must be a New Zealand citizen, resident, or hold the right to work in New Zealand.
