Rostering System Specialist - People & Culture
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.
We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations - from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.
Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.
About the Role
The primary purpose of this role is to provide expert oversight and strategic guidance for roster and timecard application, ensuring the Mahi e Taea (UKG Pro WFM) system is configured effectively and remains fit for purpose. You will work closely with the Rostering and Payroll teams to maintain system integrity and accuracy, enabling the reliable production of payroll-related files. The role also includes managing reporting requirements and leading system upgrades and major releases, ensuring these are delivered in a timely and well-coordinated manner.
In addition, you will partner with stakeholders to drive initiatives that maximise system updates and enhance overall effectiveness. You'll play an active role in improvement and implementation projects involving Mahi e Taea and its downstream applications. While the focus of this position is on Auckland and Health NZ's national office, you will also provide advice and support to the Counties Manukau and Waitematā Districts' Mahi e Taea teams, contributing to consistent and high-quality system performance across regions.
About you
You bring at least five years of experience in rostering system configuration for the UKG or Kronos rostering applications, with a strong understanding of how these systems operate and integrate within wider organisational infrastructure. Your technical expertise means you're confident navigating systems, interfaces, and the environments that support them, ensuring they function smoothly and efficiently.
You're proficient in Microsoft Office and use it effectively to support your work. You also demonstrate strong leadership qualities, particularly when it comes to training others and providing clear, practical direction. You're someone who can guide stakeholders confidently while fostering capability and shared understanding across the teams you work with.
Preference to move to the second stage will be given for applicants with strong UKG Pro WFM, UKG Dimensions or Kronos Workforce Central configuration experience.
