About the Role

This position plays a crucial role in its support of the Executive National Director in ensuring the People & Culture (P&C) business unit :

  • delivers on its strategies and plans in accordance with the Health NZ delivery model
  • responds effectively to government services requests and those of the wider sector, and media
  • performance is monitored, ensuring operational challenges are identified early, risks are mitigated, and plans are implemented on time and within budget
  • is abreast of industry trends helping Health NZ to strive for excellence and improve its employer brand.
  • This role works closely with senior leaders and subject matter experts across the organisation to provide high-quality information and advice to ensure the integrity of the P&C systems, processes and outcomes. You will be a trusted advisor to the People and Culture Leadership team, offering day-to-day guidance and leading the development of the systems and processes that enable leaders to meet their performance and accountability expectations.

    About you

    You bring at least 8 years' experience in business and operational planning and risk management within a public-sector human resources environment. You have strong knowledge of the machinery of government, privacy legislation and the Official Information Act, along with experience preparing OIA responses, written parliamentary questions, ministerial briefings and presentations.

    Your analytical capability enables you to use data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities. You have a strong eye for detail, confidently question process and produce high-quality, well-articulated written and oral communication tailored for a range of audiences.

    You have a solid understanding of corporate governance, compliance requirements, employment law, financial management and performance monitoring systems. You demonstrate a collaborative and inclusive style, building strong relationships of influence and earning trust and credibility with peers and senior leaders.
