OverviewDue to secondment Archway are looking for an experienced payroller who is keen to secure their next Senior Payroll Advisory role.
The role is based in the Wellington CBD with an organisation that plays a crucial part in Kiwi lives.
This position offers experience in a complex change environment and can support your CV or provide secure work if you're between roles.About The RoleAs a Senior Payroll Advisor, you will coordinate daily payroll activities and ensure each fortnightly pay run operates smoothly, while providing advice and support to the Payroll Advisors and the wider organisation.
You will help ensure accurate and timely payroll services, compliance with relevant legislation and employment agreements, and act as the first point of contact for complex processing issues, escalating to the Team Lead Payroll or Payroll Manager as needed.
Day-to-day tasks include : Process payroll changes including new appointments, salary and allowance changes, overtime claims, deductions, cessations, remuneration reviews, and manual calculation of employee backpays as requiredMentor Payroll Advisors to ensure changes are processed within the relevant pay runOversee end-to-end pay run processing including data integrity checks, reporting, reconciliation, sign-off, and uploading payment filesProvide advice and assistance to staff and managers on payroll matters including leave provisions, statutory entitlements and general payroll issuesCoordinate the administration of superannuation schemesEnsure payroll processes meet audit requirements and maintain data quality and integrity of the HRIS systemAbout YouSkillsExperience processing end-to-end payroll in a New Zealand payroll environmentAdaptable, personable, and committed to process improvementExperience processing payroll in a high-volume, complex environment using a tier one or two payroll systemStrong understanding of NZ Holidays Act, KiwiSaver, ACC, and IRD requirementsHigh attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-focused approachStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work with staff across all levelsDiscretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive informationStrong team player who is willing to help out as neededBenefitsFTC until end of December 2026 with a large government organisationComprehensive training and development in a high-performing team with supportive managementChance of extension or permanence at the end of the project due to the change environmentEligible to work from home 1–2 days per week once established in the roleContactAll inquiries and applications to Archway Recruitment are treated in the strictest confidence.
