Health and Safety Business Partner

Health and Safety Business Partner - Auckland, Hamilton or Tauranga is an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Business Partner to support regional operations and technical disciplines across our Tonkin + Taylor Group. If you’re passionate about building a positive safety culture and want to make a real impact, this is the role for you. You will work closely with leaders and teams to embed proactive and positive health, safety and wellbeing (HSW) culture and collaborate with the national H&S team to drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with statutory, industry and client‑specific requirements. You will be naturally curious, approachable and bring true care into your work. The ideal candidate is a people‑person with a knack for building relationships.

Kei te hiahia mātou ki ōu pūkenga | We want your skills. A requirement of this role is to travel between Tauranga, Hamilton and Auckland on a regular basis to foster strong relationships amongst our teams. This could mean regular travel, but we want to be flexible for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders and teams on health, safety and wellbeing, ensuring HSW requirements are built into project planning and delivery
• Develop and maintain HSW systems, procedures and risk assessments
• Lead incident investigations, manage corrective actions and support the incident management process
• Mentor and support Health & Safety Representatives, Location Representatives and Wellbeing Champions
• Oversee contractor and supplier HSW pre‑qualification and performance monitoring
• Support injury management and return‑to‑work programmes in collaboration with our Occupational Health and Wellbeing team
• Conduct audits and inspections, identifying and supporting improvement opportunities
• Monitor legislative changes and support WorkSafe liaison when required
