Biosecurity Assistant

This varied role is primarily field based, as well as a mix of data entry and stakeholder communication in office. The Biosecurity Assistant will work closely alongside Biosecurity Officers to complete the following work programme :

Biosecurity Pest Plants :

• Site inspections & landowner communications (including phone calls).
• Engaging & working with community groups and the public
• Input of historical and current data for different projects (office based).
• Assist biological control programme
• Setting up and collecting field measurements and data including wax tag possum and rodent ink pads monitoring at sites throughout Southland
• Analysing, recording and reporting monitoring results
• Communication with landowners and stakeholders

The preferred candidate for this position will have :

This position requires a moderate level of fitness. You will also have great customer service and public relations skills. A first aid training qualification or prior 4WD experience is desirable.

This position is available from November 2025 - February 2026. You are eligible to apply if you are currently enrolled in a tertiary institution or have graduated this year. All Summer Student roles are offered at a rate of $28.95 per hour and a 37.5-hour week.
