Maritime Assistant x2

Overview

This is a part-time minimum 20hrs / maximum 30hrs per week, including weekends and public holidays, fixed term role, assisting our maritime staff with public education and gathering information from water users.

Details

Generally, the hours will be between 08 : 00am - 16 : 30pm, but you could be required to start as early as 06 : 00am some days. The role will involve working on boat ramps around Southland (primarily at Bluff, the Oreti River, Riverton and Te Anau) conducting surveys and distributing boating safety information. You will also be in the office, undertaking data entry tasks. This role is a part-time position with a rate of $28.95 per hour.

The role will suit a reliable, mature person who is confident in communicating with a wide range of people.

This position is available from 1 December 2025 to 16 January 2026. You are eligible to apply if you are currently enrolled in a tertiary institution or have graduated this year.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surveys and distribute boating safety information at boat ramps around Southland.
• Perform data entry tasks in the office.
• Engage with water users and collect information for safety education.
