About the Role The Rural Adult Community Psychiatric Service has a vacancy for a registered nurse with mental health experience to join their community team on a full-time permanent basis.

The Rural team provides an assessment and treatment service for tangata whaiora (consumers) experiencing mental illnesses and works closely with their whanau (family) - both in the community and alongside inpatient services.

It is a sought-after position due to the Rural nature of the work.

The Rural team covers an area between the Clarence River (Kaikoura) to the north and down to the Rakaia River in the South.

You will be embedded in a supportive multi-disciplinary team based at Fergusson Building at Hillmorton Hospital.

The position will involve travel using a Te Whatu-Ora vehicle.

This role is a fixed term, full time position covering parental leave until the 23rd June

About you We are looking for a professional and highly motivated nurse to join our team.

To be successful in our team you will need to display a positive attitude and enthusiasm for this area of work, you will enjoy being part of a committed and diverse multi-disciplinary team, you will work in collaboration with a group of professionals that recognises the importance of providing quality care and services to their patients, friends and whanau and liaising with our GP's , medical centres and NGO's.

Interacting with a variety of stakeholders, you will have an ability to effectively manage and prioritise a caseload in a case management position.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, and in collaboration with our tangata whaiora and their family / whanau, primary care, community supports and our inpatient teams.

It is essential that you have the ability to think on your feet, triage and prioritise your tangata whaiora's needs appropriately, and in a timely manner.

You will case manage a caseload of tangata whaiora who you will proactively engage with and support to engage with their treatment and other holistic supports.

Highly developed risk assessment is important as is your ability to develop effective rapport with people who may be mentally unwell or distressed.

Assessment, development of treatment plans and liaising with whanau and other carers, NGOs, police, probation and other services is all part of the Community Mental Health Nurse role.

You will be a respectful caring team player with conflict resolution ability.
