• TheRural Adult Community Psychiatric Service has a vacancy for a registered nursewith mental health experience to join their community team on a full-time permanent basis.TheRural team provides an assessment and treatment service for tāngata whaiora(consumers) experiencing mental illnesses and works closely with their whānau(family) - both in the community and alongside inpatient services. It is a sought-after position due to the Rural nature ofthe work.The Ruralteam covers an area between the Clarence River (Kaikoura) to the north and downto the Rakaia River in the South. Youwill be embedded in a supportive multi-disciplinary team based at FergussonBuilding at Hillmorton Hospital. The position will involve travel using a TeWhatu-Ora vehicle.This role is a fixed term, full time position covering parental leave until the 23rd June 2026.

• Weare looking for a professional and highly motivated nurse to join our team. Tobe successful in our team you will need to display a positive attitude andenthusiasm for this area of work, you will enjoy being part of a committed anddiverse multi-disciplinary team, you will work in collaboration with a group ofprofessionals that recognises the importance of providing quality care andservices to their patients, friends and whanau and liaising with our GP's ,medical centres and NGO's. Interacting with a variety of stakeholders, you willhave an ability to effectively manage and prioritise a caseload in a casemanagement position.
• You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, and in collaboration with our tāngata whaiora and their family / whanau, primary care, community supports and our inpatient teams.
• It is essential that you have the ability to think on your feet, triage and prioritise your tāngata whaiora's needs appropriately, and in a timely manner.
• You will case manage a caseload of tāngata whaiora who you will proactively engage with and support to engage with their treatment and other holistic supports.
• Highly developed risk assessment is important as is your ability to develop effective rapport with people who may be mentally unwell or distressed.
• Assessment, development of treatment plans and liaising with whanau and other carers, NGOs, police, probation and other services is all part of the Community Mental Health Nurse role.
