About the Role | Mō te tūranga
The Business Development Manager plays a key role in driving Awanui’s commercial growth, reporting directly to the Commercial Manager. This position focuses on identifying and delivering new business growth, building strategic B2B partnerships, and supporting the execution of commercial initiatives across a range of customer and partner networks. You’ll work closely with internal teams to align operations, strengthen customer relationships, and enhance our market presence. A key part of this role will be engaging with external partners to develop new distribution channels, support targeted campaigns, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of our commercial value proposition to drive non‑government revenue streams.
Key Responsibilities
- B2B Partner Development : Identify and engage new business‑to‑business partners to grow distribution channels for our new BODYiQ business unit (e.g. specialists, insurance providers, fitness organisations, corporate wellness programs, employee benefit packages, and pharmacies).
- Value Proposition Enhancement : Feed B2B insights and requirements into product and service offerings, including the development of customised bundles.
- Distribution Expansion : Lead new growth initiatives to seed and scale the distribution (e.g. BODYiQ gift cards through strategic partners).
- Partner Onboarding : Manage the end‑to‑end onboarding process for new partners to ensure smooth integration and long‑term collaboration.
- Collaborative Marketing : Work with the Marketing Manager to deliver cooperative marketing campaigns targeting partner customers and employees.
- Targeted Campaigns : Coordinate engagement with partner organisations to execute health‑focused initiatives (e.g. prostate health, men’s health, menopause, and women’s health).
Key Results
Growth in BODYiQ revenue from B2B channels.Contribution and impact on the B2B value proposition product roadmap based on B2B partner input.Drive awareness, reach and impressions through B2B channels.Number of new partners onboarded.Ongoing partner satisfaction and retention.About You | He kōrero mōu
To be successful in this role you need to have :
Proven experience in consultative or solution‑based sales, ideally within health, wellness, corporate, or related commercial sectors.A strong track record of identifying and developing new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and achieving sales targets.Solid understanding of financial and commercial principles, with experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and growth planning.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility across internal teams and external partners.Confidence working cross‑functionally with marketing, operations, and service delivery teams to ensure aligned and effective outcomes.Ability to use data and digital tools to support commercial decision‑making, reporting, and business performance tracking.A proactive, organised, and adaptable approach, with strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.Willingness to travel regularly and a clean New Zealand driver’s licence.What’s in it for you | He aha mōu
