We're on the hunt for a Strategic Policy Advisor to join our small but mighty team!
You'll help steer the waka when it comes to policies and bylaws, charting the course, navigating the tricky waters of legislation, and making sure our community's voice is heard.

What you'll be doing :
Diving deep into research and analysis on policies and bylaws (yes, we love a good spreadsheet!)
Keeping tabs on legislative and regulatory changes, both local and nationalCrafting, reviewing, and refining policies and bylaws that make sense and make impact
Collaborating across council teams to align our policy goals with strategic direction
Building strong relationships with iwi, elected members, community groups, and key stakeholders
Leading the development and coordination of our long-term framework for policies and bylaws
Ensuring consistency of draft policies across departments
Mentoring and supporting team members because great minds grow together
Staying informed on emerging trends and issues in the policy landscape
Who you are :
Fluent in the language of Local Government; acronyms don't scare you!
A legislative detective who knows where to find the rules and how to turn them into action
A strategic thinker who can see the big picture and plan for it
A top-tier communicator and collaborator who brings people together
Experienced in working with senior decision-makers and elected officials
A confident presenter who can engage stakeholders from all walks of life
Organised, proactive, and able to juggle multiple projects without dropping the ball
Someone who brings clarity to complexity and can work independently or as part of a team
Able to write reports that are both insightful and easy to understand (bonus points for making complex things sound simple)
A finisher whose work is high quality and always on time
Ideally, you've got a tertiary qualification in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, or equivalent experience
