We have an excellent opportunity for a Policy Advisor to join New Zealand Government Procurement, a branch within the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).
Every year, government agencies spend around $51.5 billion on goods and services to support the delivery of public services and infrastructure — for context that's about 17% of GDP.
We develop the policy framework that guides procurement practice across government.
We have an exciting programme of work with a focus on achieving public value and how governments procurement activities can deliver economic benefits for New Zealand.

The successful candidate will possess a good tertiary qualification and the following :
Knowledge of policy frameworks / principles / tools / approaches and experience in applying these to the analysis of policy issues and formulation of high-quality policy advice
Ability to build knowledge of different policy issues quickly, drawing on information and evidence from multiple and diverse sources
A critical thinker, problem solver and have a healthy level of curiosity – we're looking for analytical skills which you can apply to policy problems
Ability to work through ambiguity and deliver results
Excellent written and oral communication skills with an eye for detail
A collaborative approach to working with others and experience working with Ministers, public service officials, internal and external stakeholders
Have a good understanding of the machinery of government and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
