Senior Advisor, Integrated Insights – Ministry of Education New Zealand

The Senior Advisor – Integrated Insights provides expert advice to actively achieve equitable education outcomes for Maori learners and Maori language in education in alignment with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the aspirations of Maori communities.

Role Overview

This role involves working across Te Pou Tuarongo to integrate insights that support the delivery of high-quality work, providing expert advice and guidance on the strategic and practical implementation of Ka Hikitia and Tau Mai Te Reo strategies, and building and maintaining relationships across Te Tahuhu o Te Matauranga and other education agencies to collect, capture and integrate insights.

Key Responsibilities

Work across Te Pou Tuarongo to integrate insights that support the delivery of high-quality work within and beyond Te Pou Tuarongo.

Provide expert advice and guidance on the strategic and practical implementation of Ka Hikitia and Tau Mai Te Reo strategies to support an integrated delivery approach and equitable and excellent outcomes for Maori learners and all learners of te reo Maori.

Build and maintain relationships across Te Tahuhu o Te Matauranga and other education agencies to collect, capture and integrate insights.

Champion and lead Te Tahuhu efforts to shape practices that deliver on Ka Hikitia and Tau Mai Te Reo.

Qualifications and Experience

Strong background in working in education and / or with the education sector to deliver equitable outcomes for Maori learners and Maori language.

Analytical and detail-oriented approach to support advisory skills, confidently delivering evidence-based advice to support implementation of Ka Hikitia and Tau Mai te Reo.

A proven understanding of honouring relationships and partnerships between Maori and the Crown, ensuring excellent and equitable outcomes for Maori and Treaty settlement commitments.

Familiarity with te ao Maori and understanding of te reo Maori, tikanga Maori and matauranga Maori.

Proven ability to provide strategic advice, translating national strategies into actionable insights to support development, delivery and review of implementation plans.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships and influencing others.

Analytical thinking – synthesises complex data and policy to generate actionable insights.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Collaboration – works effectively across teams to achieve strategic priorities.

A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.

The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Desired Skills

Strong understanding of the political context and the machinery of government.

Experience developing, implementing and innovating to achieve excellent and equitable outcomes for all learners.

Proactively applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in strategy, policy and implementation.

Compensation

Salary range : $100,296 – $121,490 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver.

The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.
